Music

There are many benefits to entering a free songwriting contest, but unfortunately, some writers are hesitant to send their songs in for a variety of reasons. While competition usually brings out the best in people, it can also be a deterrent. If you are considering finding one or more contests to submit your music to, you should be aware of several factors. First, the most important thing to determine is your reason for entering. Even though there are other entries the judges will be hearing, you should never compete against anyone else when writing your songs. You are actually competing with yourself in a healthy way that improves your creativity. It isn't about comparing your song to someone else's; it's about realizing your own personal goals.

The judges will make a decision in every competition and you will have no control over the results. However, you can control your response to them and the situation. Every time you submit a song, you are opening the doors to feedback and potential criticism. Since a lot of the judges are also music industry professionals, this feedback can be very valuable. Whether you agree with the assessment of your songs or not, it is always helpful to be receptive to new perspectives. That doesn't mean that the judges will automatically be right or that you should take their advice; just be objective and think of it as a learning experience.
